Recently, the controversy surrounding the original singer of the song "Annual Ring" (年輪) has been raging on Weibo, a major Chinese mainland social media platform, and has dominated the trending topics list for several days. On July 22, 2025, the topic of internet celebrity singer "Wangzai Xiao Qiao" claiming that Wang Sulong was not the original singer of "Annual Ring" became a trending topic, sparking controversy. Wangzai Xiao Qiao responded to netizens' comments: "Although 'Annual Ring' was written by Wang Sulong, the original singer of the song is Zhang Bichen, that's what I believe." Wang Sulong had also mentioned the song "Annual Ring" in a stand-up comedy performance, jokingly saying: "Zhang Bichen only made this song popular; apart from her vocal parts, everything else is my credit." In the early hours of July 25, Wang Sulong announced on the official account @SilenceRadio0917 that he had decided to withdraw the authorization for "Annual Ring". Subsequently, @ZhangBichenStudio posted: "Recently, online comments regarding the song 'Rings of Time' have caused unnecessary controversy and misunderstanding. To set the record straight and to protect Ms. Zhang Bichen's legitimate rights as the sole original singer of this work, we solemnly clarify the situation."

劇集《花千骨》的OST影視原聲項目是個很有意思的案例，采用多元化的籌歌方式。在開案之初，劇集的幕後團隊將全部配樂交由「仙俠音樂大師」麥振鴻團隊操刀。而幾首流行人聲的歌曲則交由「海蝶音樂」（北京海蝶音樂有限公司）負責。此外還舉辦了面嚮全球網友的音樂徵集大賽，最終網羅挑選出一首由網友創作詞曲的〈地老天荒〉作爲插曲。

Based on publicly available information online, I attempted to piece together the entire sequence of events.

The OST (Original Soundtrack) project for the TV series "The Journey of Flower" is a very interesting music production case, employing a diverse approach to song selection. At the outset, the series' production team entrusted all the background music to the team of Mai Zhenhong, known as "the master of soundtracks for Chinese fantasy dramas." Several pop songs featuring vocals were handled by Ocean Butterflies Music (Beijing Ocean Butterflies Music Co., Ltd.). In addition, a global music competition was held, ultimately selecting "Till the End of Time," a song with lyrics and music written by netizens, as an insert song.

以商業服務視角，海蝶音樂作爲乙方，根據項目需求網羅詞曲為甲方（劇集《花千骨》）提供曲庫資源，經甲方挑選DEMO后匹配更精準的需求，進一步完成錄製，交付合格的原聲音樂，最終成品通過甲方驗收。從劇集《花千骨》的謝幕名單中，標注「〈千古〉〈年輪〉〈心之火〉著作權及音樂作品由北京海蝶音樂有限公司提供」，其中的〈年輪〉作爲插曲用途。項目中使用的張碧晨版本〈年輪〉錄音製品的著作權登記人為北京海蝶音樂有限公司，這一版權登記信息背後指向該版本由項目資金支付製作。當然，有資料顯示，在供劇方挑選曲庫的前期階段，汪蘇瀧、張碧晨同期分別錄製了〈年輪〉的男女聲版本，而後海蝶音樂在匹配《花千骨》劇情等因素后，最終向甲方推送了張碧晨演唱版本的〈年輪〉並最終獲選。

The credits for the ending of "The Journey of Flower" list "The copyright and musical works of 'Eternal,' 'Annual Ring,' and 'Fire of the Heart' were provided by Beijing Ocean Butterflies Music Co., Ltd.", with "Annual Ring" used as an insert song. The copyright registration for the Zhang Bichen version of "Annual Ring" used in the project is registered to Beijing Ocean Butterflies Music Co., Ltd., indicating that this version was produced with project funding. Information shows that in the early stages of the music library selection process, Wang Sulong and Zhang Bichen recorded male and female versions of "Annual Ring" respectively. After considering factors such as the plot of "The Journey of Flower," Ocean Butterflies Music ultimately submitted Zhang Bichen's version of "Annual Ring" to the client, which was ultimately selected.

事件的爭議點在於，海蝶音樂後續整合發行的《花千骨》OST原聲帶，除了收錄劇集中的張碧晨演唱版本（陳牧狄編曲），還以「幕後創作者」的名義加收了劇集外的汪蘇瀧版本（Terence編曲）。結合以上，我的個人觀點是，汪蘇瀧演唱版本并不出現在劇集中（有資料顯示其演唱版本的錄音製品著作權登記人為藝人所屬公司「大象音樂」），所以他的錄音室版本被發行方整合出現在OST原聲帶中，有點像類似於「驚喜加收」+「Bonus Track」的性質。因此，在劇集方出資、主導製作的《花千骨》插曲項目中，張碧晨演唱版〈年輪〉是唯一的入選版本，也最早以單曲形式公開發行錄音室版本。

The controversy lies in the fact that Ocean Butterflies Music's subsequent online release of the "The Journey of Flower" OST soundtrack, besides including Zhang Bichen's version (arranged by Chen Mudi) from the drama, also included Wang Sulong's version (arranged by Terence) under the name of a "behind-the-scenes creator," even though Wang Sulong's version did not appear in the drama. Based on the above, my personal opinion is that since Wang Sulong's version did not appear in the drama (data shows that the copyright registration for his recording is with his company, Elephant Music), his studio version being included in the OST soundtrack is somewhat like a "surprise bonus" or "bonus track." Therefore, in the "The Journey of Flower" soundtrack project funded and produced by the drama's producers, Zhang Bichen's version of "Annual Ring" was the only selected version and was also the first studio version to be publicly released as a single.

當然，詞曲作者擁有詞曲著作權是所有創作者的基本權益。汪蘇瀧近期選擇不再授權〈年輪〉的詞曲版權也是作爲創作者行使基本權力，理應予以尊重他作為詞曲創作人的權利。當然，整個事件在大陸音樂行業亦產生深遠影響，可能導致非創作型歌手此後在類似項目中，會更傾向於與純幕後創作者合作項目，或特別就相關錄音版本與發行事宜在案前溝通協商。當然，如果唱作型歌手在投歌時，介意被其他歌手演唱或存在別的想法，也應在案前以書面形式說明合作的先決條件，以避免引發後續不必要的麻煩。（文/酋長）
